DataGURU accredited as a Nature data repository

DataGURU the in-house project data repository of BECC and MERGE has been accredited as a "Nature" data repository.

The first dataset of Nature Scientific Data permanently stored on DataGURU is the population projection of African population over the rest of the century generated by Niklas Olén and Veiko Lehsten. The dataset is the first population projection available which corresponds both to socio-economic pathways (SSPs) and representative concentration pathways (RCPs), a gap that has hindered the combination of climate models which use RCPs with socioeconomic models which typically use SSPs application of models.

DataGURU has been financed by BECC and MERGE over several years and has currently received a Infrastructure grant from the University via an BECC application.

It provides easy access to historical and future climate data, as European habitat projections and many other types of data. It allows all researchers to deposit their data  already before publication and to receive an DOI for their datasets. This has shown to be an advantage for the manuscript in the review process, since it demonstrates the accessibility of the data to the reviewer.
