Thomas Sterner no 9 of Sweden's most influential opinion leaders

Thomas Sterner

Thomas Sterner, professor of environmental economics at School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg,and BECC PI, has been ranked as no 9 of the most 101 influential opinion leaders in Sweden for sustainable development. The ranking is made by the sustainability magazine Aktuell Hållbarhet.

Motivation: The professor's engagement is most noticeable internationally; As a visiting professor at the College de France in Paris, chief economist at the Environmental Defense Fund in New York and as chair of the research committee of the Environment for Development Initiative, which supports environmental economists in developing countries. Sterner was one of the principal authors of Chapter 15 in the IPCC's fifth assessment of climate change.

Motivation in Swedish: 

Professorns engagemang märks främst internationellt, bland annat som gästprofessor på College de France i Paris, som chefsekonom på Environmental Defense Fund i New York och när han leder forskningskommittén inom Environment for Development, som stödjer miljöekonomer i utvecklingsländer. Sterner var en av huvudförfattarna för kapitel 15 i IPCCs femte utvärdering om klimatförändringarna.
