BECC guest researchers: Professor Nina Buchmann and Associated professor Oliver Sonnentag

Welcome to Professor Nina Buchmann

from the Department of Environmental Systems Science at ETH Zürich. The main research topics of Nina Buchmann include (1) plant and ecosystem physiology, (2) biogeochemistry of terrestrial ecosystems, i.e., forest, grassland and cropland, particularly the response of soil and ecosystem carbon, nitrogen and water dynamics to climatic conditions and management regimes, and (3) interactions among biodiversity, ecosystem functions/services, and sustainable resource use. She will be working closely with Natascha Kljun (CEC) during the coming months. A first seminar is to take place on October 6th, 15.00-16.00.

Welcome back to Oliver Sonnentag

from Département de géographie de l'Université de Montréal in Canada who now after the restriction of the pandemic may come back to us! He will be working closely Natascha Kljun (CEC) during his visit.

Oliver Sonnentag's research concerns the atmospheric biogeosciences at high latitudes: understanding alterations in biosphere-atmosphere interactions of northern ecosystems in response to rapidly changing permafrost conditions. Local, regional and global biophysical parameter monitoring and mapping to study changes in ecosystem composition, structure, functioning and phenology.

If you would like to connect with Nina or Oliver, you are welcome to contact natascha [dot] kljun [at] cec [dot] lu [dot] se (natascha[dot]kljun[at]cec[dot]lu[dot]se).
