Deputy Theme Coordinator of the Biodiversity theme in BECC Alexandre Antonellis has been awarded a prize of 12 MSEK from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research.

The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research has appointed the sixth generation Future Research Leaders (FFL). The program is targeted at Swedish and foreign young researchers, who conducts research at the highest international level. Twenty beneficiaries receive 12 MSEK each for independent research and the results are expected to result in even larger constellations to come. One of the beneficiaries is the Deputy Theme Coordinator of the Biodiversity theme in BECC Alexandre Antonelli.

Alexandre Antonellis research is concerned with the questions of how biological diversity is distributed across the planet, how it is evolving and where it is heading. In his project, he will be leading the development of new tools for cost efficient mapping of species distribution and casting of their evolutionary histories and future distributions.
