LU Land lecture series on functional landscapes: Evolutionary aspects in conservation, why we need to take them into account and how we can do it?
Many conservation actions are planned and monitored with a focus on species numbers or population size. But there are many examples of conservation projects that highlight the importance of also taking genetic and evolutionary aspects into account.
Today's lecture will cover some of the history of conservation genetics and discuss situations where genetic and evolutionary thinking can contribute to or provide a different perspective on conservation.

The lecture series "Managing functional landscapes for biodiversity - what does the research say?" is a collaboration between LU Land, the County Administrative Board of Skåne and the strategic research area BECC (Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate).
