DRI-MEE: Drying and rewetting, integrating modelling and empirical environments

Recent studies have shown that soil responses upon drying-rewetting may exhibit dissimilar patterns dependent on the historical conditions of moisture and the subsequent activation of microbial mechanisms. On one hand, these findings must be incorporated into models. On the other hand, mechanistic-based models have revealed additional uncertainties which must be parameterised with new data. In order to cover all these multidisciplinary aspects, identify knowledge-gaps, and tackle outstanding and new challenges, this workshop is aimed at bringing together researchers from different environments.
Moreover, we have developed a novel workflow, whereby BECC-contributors and other potential collaborators will be invited to participate in an initial survey. This will help to identify a set of core questions to be addressed by each speaker during the symposium, which will help focus discussions.
