20 minute training session with The Conversation. Focus: Environment + Energy
Are you an academic, researcher or PhD candidate who would like to build a media profile and take your research to a global public audience by writing for The Conversation? Take this opportunity to a one-2-one workshop with one of The Conversation's editors with a focus on environment and/or energy.
You will meet with the editor for 20 minutes and you can choose from 6 time slots - first come first served.
The Conversation is the world's leading publisher of research-based news and analysis. It is an open access, independent media charity funded by more than 90 UK and European universities. Working with an editor, researchers write short pieces that deliver academic expertise directly to the public.
Use the session to:
- Receive advice on the best angles for turning your research and
expertise into articles. - Discuss potential pitches.
- Talk around your subject area looking at themes, elements that might
be of interest to a general audience. - Receive actionable, personalised feedback on how to communicate
your research to a general audience.
To make the most out of your time with the editor, come prepared:
- Read some articles on The Conversation to get a sense of what we
publish and our style. - Key in some keywords from your research in our search function to see
how we have covered your area of expertise. Are there any gaps? What
could your expertise contribute? - Think about the sort of pieces you might potentially write, what aspects
of your research might interest a general audience, and come armed
with ideas to discuss with the editor.
Register your interest for the workshop no later than the 8th of June on the following link:
