Continuous-Cover Forestry in Practice – New Site, New Strategies

How can continuous-cover forestry (CCF) be applied in practice to meet multiple goals such as biodiversity, climate adaptation, recreation and timber production? Join us for an excursion where we visit a site that will be converted to CCF, and discuss concrete strategies for forest conversion.
Last year, we visited Breanäs in northeastern Skåne to explore how CCF can be used to meet multiple forest goals. Together with the Scanian Landscape Foundation, we discussed gradual conversion methods, biodiversity and recreation promotion, and climate-smart choices in a real forest setting.
This year, the Scanian Landscape Foundation has invited five organisations, including Lund University, to design their own CCF strategies on two one-hectare plots each in Bockeboda close to Kristianstad. Each organisation has been given full freedom to propose how their areas should be converted to CCF, based on different goals and starting conditions.
On June 13, we invite you to an excursion to Bockeboda. We will present our preliminary ideas for our areas, invite discussion, and gather input — because the final strategies will be submitted in July, ahead of harvest operations in September. So this is a real chance to influence what will actually happen! In addition to focusing on our own plots, we will also walk through the other areas and discuss different possible strategies and approaches.
We will depart from Lund at 8:30 and return no later than 16:00. Lunch and fika will be provided. Warmly welcome to join this next step in practical CCF!
